More product quality with Quasar

Automated measurement of software quality with artificial intelligence (AI).

The quality of software-intensive products is more than just code quality

Barely any product today is created without a significant proportion of software. High product quality can only be achieved through high software quality. This involves more than just high-quality code. For example, the quality of the user experience cannot be measured using classic static code analysis, but it has a major influence on the quality of the end product.

Quasar is an AI platform for the comprehensive and continuous measurement of quality aspects for software products.

Product quality is created along the entire software lifecycle

The foundation for high product quality is already laid in the early phases of software engineering, when requirements are collected, features are conceived and experiences are designed. The choice of software architecture determines the runtime behavior and maintainability, and is therefore another important quality aspect. Last but not least, documentation, both in the code and beyond, is an aspect of product quality, especially when it comes to proving compliance with certain regulations.

The earlier a quality defect is identified, the easier it is to rectify. An accurate picture of the quality of a software-intensive product requires continuous and comprehensive measurement of many aspects of quality.

Measuring multiple aspects of quality is time-consuming and requires expertise, especially when these aspects go beyond static analysis.

Continuous and comprehensive measurement of product quality with Quasar

Quasar is a solution that enables the continuous automated measurement of various quality aspects. Various modules are available on the Quasar platform. Each of these modules is specialized in the measurement of a specific quality aspect. The platform connects the relevant data sources (e.g. repositories, file repositories with documents, etc.) and thus provides the modules with the required information securely.

Each module is based on established quality models: Standards, metrics from practice or heuristics used by experts and specialists. With the help of generative artificial intelligence, it is then possible to carry out an automated quality assessment.

The quality assessment can consider various artifacts: Concepts, designs and mockups, architecture documents, documentation and code. Quasar therefore not only enables the quality assessment of stable software products, but also the continuous assessment of quality aspects at different stages of implementation, thus creating transparent insights into the quality of software-intensive products.

Quasar in use: “Marketplace Germany Digital”

The aim of Marktplatz Deutschland.Digital is to provide smart municipalities and smart districts with high-quality digital solutions. Not every digital solution is equally suitable for everyone. By checking the quality, we ensure that only solutions that meet a minimum standard are offered. The number of solutions on the marketplace will increase significantly. It will be a major challenge to make a sensible selection from this large number of solutions and to make an informed, technically sound decision for or against a solution that fits in with a smart city strategy.

All valuations entered on the marketplace were created by Quasar with the help of AI. This not only ensures efficiency for a large number of solutions, but also enables a much more intensive and broader evaluation that goes far beyond what experts can achieve with human resources.

The basis of the evaluation is the software, its code with associated documentation, its creation through the contributions of developers from the community, as well as information on the software architecture and the finished solution based on screenshots. To do this, we access the data from the repositories and automatically analyze the content using our AI algorithms.
