The Green Economy model is aimed at an environmentally compatible economy in which ecology and economy are positively linked with each other to increase social welfare. In the context of this project, interfaces between Germany’s necessary evolution toward a Green Economy and the increasing digitalization are being addressed and analyzed. These interfaces will then form the basis for the development of recommendations for action regarding framework conditions related to environmental protection.
With its expertise, Fraunhofer IESE is particularly involved in identifying the potentials of digital technologies for strengthening environmental protection and rural areas. To do so, interfaces between the topics of equal living conditions, digitalization, and environmental protection are being identified. Based on an analysis of good practices, possible implementation measures are being identified and subjected to an obstacle analysis. Finally, proposals of instruments for strengthening rural areas and environmental protection will be developed, with special consideration of the potential of digitalization.
