The aim of the lighthouse project “EnStadt:Pfaff” is to use the example of the Pfaff district to demonstrate how to achieve climate-neutral energy supply of a district while maintaining a high level of urban development quality. To this end, a real-life laboratory is being developed on the site of the former Pfaff sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautern.
Fraunhofer IESE is involved in the topics of Energy and Mobility and is responsible for the development and implementation of a concept for information and communications technology. During the five-year project phase, a Digital Ecosystem for urban districts based on the Smart Rural Areas platform is being established and deployed in order to drive digitalization.
