The EURIDICE project, which is funded by the European Union, is a pioneering initiative to shape the digital transformation of society in a sustainable and responsible way. The project is part of the efforts to achieve the fourth goal of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations – “Quality Education” − and thus makes a decisive contribution to promoting inclusive education for society and to digital innovation.
EURIDICE’s mission is not only to provide a broad audience – from learners and university students to practitioners and managers – with the necessary digital skills, but also to enable them to put these into practice as responsible and future-oriented innovators. At a time when digital development is rapidly progressing, the need for qualified specialists who can operate at the interface of society, science, and technology is increasing. They need a deep understanding of information and communication technologies (ICT) in order to be able to develop and use digital innovations sustainably.
The EURIDICE project addresses this challenge by focusing on the acquisition of technical ICT skills that are essential for the responsible use and development of digital innovations. As part of the project, Fraunhofer IESE is providing support, particularly in the area of Digital Ecosystems and the platform economy, and is developing practice-relevant knowledge content together with European partners.
The consortium behind EURIDICE consists of 25 partner organizations, including universities, research centers, cultural and scientific institutions, and companies, from 10 different countries.
