Mobility as a Service for municipalities
In the project KomMaaS, the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE and its partners developed and implemented a concept for improving mobility in rural areas.
Mobility in rural areas is often dependent on owning a vehicle. Especially in areas where existing public transport services are not available across the board and with sufficient frequency, people who are not individually mobile, such as young people or senior citizens, are severely restricted in their freedom. The work in our project “KomMaaS” focused on the development of digital applications that can be used to organize people’s transportation in a new and better way in order to address the specific challenges in sparsely populated rural areas.
