Fraunhofer IESE guided Apoplex through a structured and comprehensive evaluation process. This included a heuristic analysis, in which the SRAi tool was evaluated on the basis of Jakob Nielsen's ten usability heuristics, as well as a cognitive walkthrough to test the learnability of the software. These approaches helped to critically examine the user-friendliness and intuitive usability of the tool and identify targeted improvements.
A subsequent usability test with real users ensured that the SRAi tool also works well under real application conditions and meets with broad acceptance. The usability test was created by Fraunhofer IESE on the basis of the target group and user tasks, expanded to include quantitative benchmarks against other software products and tested together with Apoplex. The actual implementation was therefore carried out entirely by Apoplex.
Of particular value was the final summative evaluation, in which the findings from the previous tests were summarized and the progress made was confirmed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Thanks to this intensive support, Apoplex was able to successfully overcome all major usability challenges.
In addition, Fraunhofer IESE provided the Apoplex Medical Technologies team with valuable knowledge and methods for performing their own usability analyses. The acquired knowledge now enables Apoplex to perform future usability tests and evaluations independently - an important step for the continuous further development of its own products.
